Canadian Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIQ) was founded in 2001 by Dr. Qu Xiaohua, the first batch of specially-appointed experts in the National "Thousand Talents Program". After the acquisition of Recurrent Energy, Canadian Solar's global power station project reserve increased to 20.4 GW. It was listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange in the United States in 2006. In 2021, module shipments will be 14.5 GW, an increase of 28% over the previous year; sales will be US$5.3 billion (about 34 billion yuan), an increase of 52% over the previous year. The production and operation were good throughout the year, with a steady increase in gross profit margin; net profit was US$95 million (approximately RMB 612 million).

As of 2018, Canadian Solar has provided more than 33 GW of solar photovoltaic module products to more than 1,200 customers in more than 150 countries around the world, accounting for 7.8% of the global cumulative installed photovoltaic capacity, and has been listed in the Fortune "China's top 500 list. The "2019 Global Top 500 New Energy Enterprises List" was released, and Canadian Solar ranked 35th.
