Founded in April 2004, TCG is an independent international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting leadership in climate change by business and government. Headquartered in the UK, it operates globally including the US, Australia, China and India. The ultimate mission of TCG is to promote the development of a global low-carbon economy.

The Climate Group's membership is divided into three categories: city government members, regional government members, and corporate members. For example, the City of London (UK), the State of Maine in USA, Google Inc. and JP Morgan Chase & Co. are all members of TCG. Up to now, there are 61 members of the Climate Group, including city government members.

TCG's strategic projects include developing a business leadership program,developing a voluntary carbon market standard, implementing a green power market development program, breaking the global climate deadlock program, advocating for city and regional leadership alliances and launching a low carbon peer-to-peer program for consumers.

The goal of TCG's work in China is to support and promote joint efforts by businesses, regions and cities to achieve greenhouse gas reductions and propose new solutions to climate change. By 2010, the organization will develop no more than 25 members in China. China Mobile Communications Group, Broad Air Conditioning Co., Ltd. and Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. have officially signed agreements with TCG to become the first members in China.

TCG是成立于2004年4月的独立的国际非营利机构，致力于推动工商企业和政府部门发挥领导作用应对气候变化。总部设在英国，并在全球范围包括美国、澳大利亚、中国、印度等地展开运作。气候组织的最终使命是促进全球低碳经济的发展。 

气候组织成员分为三类：城市政府成员、区域政府成员和公司成员。英国伦敦市、美国缅因州、Google公司和摩根大通公司等均属于气候组织成员。而今包括城市政府成员在内的气候组织成员共有61个。

TCG战略性项目包括：开发企业领袖力量项目；制订自愿碳市场标准；实施绿色电力市场发展项目；打破全球气候僵局项目；倡导城市和区域领袖联盟；启动针对消费者的低碳同行项目等。

气候组织在中国的工作目标，旨在支持和促进企业、地区和城市共同努力，来实现温室气体减排和提出应对气候变化新方案。到2010年，该组织将在中国发展不超过25个会员，中国移动通信集团、远大空调有限公司和尚德电力控股有限公司正式与气候组织签署协议，成为该组织在中国区的首批会员。
