Founded in 1961, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is based in Gland, Switzerland. It is the world's largest independent environmental NGO with a global reputation.
The WWF has offices in over 100 countries and territories worldwide, 5,000 full-time employees and over 5 million volunteers. In the 60 years since its founding, the WWF has invested in more than 13,000 projects, involving approximately $10 billion in funding.
The WWF's work in China began in 1980 with the conservation of giant pandas and their habitats, which is the first international NGO to be invited by the Chinese government to carry out conservation work in China.
In 1996, the WWF officially established its office in Beijing. Since then, eight programs have been established across the country.
The WWF's mission is to stop the deterioration of the Earth's natural environment and create a better future where humans and nature live in harmony. To this end it is committed to
