On December 6, Trina Solar, the China Chamber of Commerce for Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Shenzhen One Planet Foundation (OPF) co-hosted the "One More Hour of Clean Energy" kick-off ceremony and Clean Energy Development Forum in Beijing, where international organizations, including WWF, IBM, and other domestic and international enterprises, as well as industrial parks and research institutions, participated and launched the "One More Hour of Clean Energy" joint initiative and jointly drew a blueprint for "clean energy for a better future". Trina Solar Chairman Gao Jifan delivered the event speech in the form of a video.

"Clean Energy One More Hour" is a new initiative launched in China during Earth Hour 2022, the most influential global public environmental protection campaign, with the theme of "Clean Energy for a Better Future". With the theme of "Clean Energy for a Better Future", the campaign aims to call for the participation of all sectors of society who care about climate change and are passionate about low-carbon environmental protection, to raise people's awareness of using clean energy and to contribute to a carbon-neutral future.

Zhang Yujing, president of China Chamber of Commerce of Machinery and Electronics, Du Xiangwan, academician and former vice president of Chinese Academy of Engineering, deputy director of National Energy Advisory Expert Committee, Lu Lunyan, chief representative of WWF (Switzerland) Beijing Representative Office, Ding Gan, secretary general of One Planet Nature Foundation, An Fengquan, senior advisor of International Energy Administrator, Kiran Patel, senior director of UK-China Trade Association, Teti Maria Licursi, deputy coordinator of China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, Cao Bo, director and executive vice president of Trina Solar, Zhang Rongmin, vice president of Jiangsu Trina Smart Distributed Energy Co.Ltd.

Gao Jifan said that clean energy will become the main force of future energy changes. According to the forecast of the International Renewable Energy Agency, the installed capacity of clean energy, such as wind and solar energy, will exceed 75% in 2050, and wind and solar energy will together account for about 80% of China's energy supply structure in 2060. As a leading company in the photovoltaic industry, Trina Solar has always practiced the mission of "using solar energy to benefit all mankind" and promoted the industry forward with all relevant stakeholders, so let's join the "One More Hour of Clean Energy" initiative and work together to create a cleaner sky and clearer water for our children and grandchildren.

At the launch ceremony, the "One More Hour of Clean Energy" global initiative was released, calling on the whole society to strengthen the use of clean energy and work together to create a better, carbon-neutral future. Hundreds of companies (organizations) have already announced to join the initiative, including IBM, Air Liquide, Finnish Chamber of Commerce, Kaiser Technology, CSC, Huazhu Group, ZTE, China Energy Construction, SAIC Motor, etc.

The event was held online, with renowned experts and scholars from home and abroad as well as enterprise representatives gathering in the network cloud to focus on the clean energy industry and promote the green and synergistic development of all links in the industry chain. At the end of the event, Wang Congxiao, deputy general manager of Kaiser Technology Group Limited, Zhao Xiaokai, general manager of sustainability software business of IBM Greater China Technology Division, Wang Ying, partner of Climate Change and Sustainability of PwC, Li Sisheng, deputy chief Engineer and general manager of New Source and Power Department of CEC International Engineering Company, and Li Jianfeng, assistant general manager of China Gezhouba Group International Engineering Company, and other enterprise representatives explained their views from different fields such as cutting-edge clean energy technology, solutions and overseas business. They explained their views and introduced the advantages of their respective companies from different fields such as cutting-edge technology, solutions and overseas business, and offered their suggestions for the development of clean energy.

In recent years, with the social concern about the ecological environment, global climate and other issues, vigorous development of clean energy has become the consensus of the world. The 20th Party Congress report emphasized the need to promote the energy revolution, accelerate the planning and construction of a new energy system, and unswervingly promote the green and low-carbon development of energy.

In the process of clean energy popularization, how individuals, enterprises and social groups can raise the awareness of using clean energy and take active action to complete this great "two-way run" together is one of the important tasks in the development of clean energy, and also the purpose of this initiative "Clean Energy One More Hour. The participating companies and organizations will set their carbon reduction targets and action plans in a scientific and reasonable way according to their actual situation with the support of WWF climate project team experts, and will be invited to participate in the lectures and training activities organized by the "One More Hour of Clean Energy".

In July 2021, Trina Solar announced its participation in the Science Based Carbon Target (SBTi) global initiative, contributing to the 1.5°C temperature limit target and leading the PV industry's progress. Up to now, Trina Solar's business has spread to more than 100 countries and regions around the world, and the cumulative global shipments of PV modules exceeded 100GW, producing more than 135 billion kilowatt-hours of clean energy, which is equivalent to the installed capacity of 4.4 Three Gorges hydroelectric power plants, and approximately equivalent to planting 7.4 billion trees worldwide.
