On September 26, Beijing time, Midea Air Conditioning cooperated with TUV SUD Group, a global authoritative certification body, to successfully register with the International EPD® System and issued the world's first Environmental Product Declaration (" EPD ") for air conditioning, which at the same time obtained the carbon footprint certificate issued by TUV NANDE. This is another milestone achievement in the field of product life cycle assessment (LCA) after the release of the air conditioning industry's first product carbon footprint + carbon reduction assessment report and the first batch of Guangdong carbon label certificate. It highlights the firm determination of Midea Group to practice green concept and promote sustainable development.

Based on life cycle assessment, EPD shows the environmental impact of a product or service on non-renewable resources, ecosystems, and human health during the whole life cycle. Take air conditioning as an example, its life cycle includes raw material acquisition, product manufacturing, product transportation and on-site installation, product use and maintenance, recycling and disposal, etc. As an internationally recognized "green ID card", EPD can provide consumers and purchasers with a transparent product environmental information statement based on multi-party participation and verification, so as to meet the needs of customers for sustainable development.

Midea air conditioning has been committed to the concept of green environmental protection into the whole life cycle of products, through the development and innovation of green technology, comprehensive reduction of product life cycle environmental impact.

With the energy efficiency of energy-efficient air conditioners improved by Midea's green air conditioning technology, it is estimated that the annual production of about 2.85 million energy-efficient models will save about 416 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 414,700 tons, and reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by about 12,400 tons.

Midea Air Conditioning has also been continuously committed to the development and application of R290 environment-friendly refrigerant products. Related achievements have been recognized by the United Nations Environment Program "Low-carbon Environmental Protection Leadership Award", the United Nations Industrial Development Organization "Outstanding Contribution to Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Award" and the United Nations Montreal Agreement 30 Years Outstanding Contribution Unit Award. It has made positive contributions to global greenhouse gas emission reduction and ozone layer protection.

In September 2022, the world's first new level 1 energy efficient R290 air conditioner rolled off the assembly line in the United States. This product not only meets the demand of high efficiency and energy saving, but also effectively realizes the replacement of non-environmentally friendly refrigerant, and provides a new idea and solution for the industry to fulfill the Kigali Amendment.

EPD以生命周期评价为基础，展现了某个产品或某项服务在整个生命周期过程中对不可再生资源、生态系统、人体健康等方面的环境影响。以空调为例，其生命周期包括原材料获取、产品制造、产品运输及现场安装、产品使用和维护、回收与处置等。EPD作为目前国际公认的“绿色身份证”，可为消费者和采购商提供基于多方参与和验证的、全过程透明的产品环境信息声明，以满足客户可持续发展的需求。

美的空调一直致力于将绿色环保理念融入产品的全生命周期，通过绿色技术的研发与创新，全面降低产品全生命周期的环境影响。

基于美的绿色空调技术开发的高效节能空调能效大幅提升，按年产高能效机型约285万套估算，每年可节约电能约4.16亿度，减少温室气体排放约41.47万吨，减少二氧化硫排放约1.24 万吨。
