On April 20, Mindray Medical released the 2021 Sustainability Report (hereinafter referred to as the "Report"). This is the first sustainable development report released by the company on the basis of three consecutive social responsibility reports, and the first time to disclose the sustainable development system of Mindray Medical.

 

Mindray Medical closely combines the concept of sustainable development with the daily operation and business development. Mindray Medical focuses on six areas, namely, standardizing corporate governance, innovation-driven future, coordinated development of business chain, promoting green development, creating sustainable workplace and achieving common prosperity, and establishes its own sustainable development strategy.

 

With the theme of "Based on Independent innovation, popularizing high-end technology", the report detailed the achievements of Mindray Medical's work on sustainable development in 2021. In line with international standards and disclosure frameworks, this sustainability Report is an improvement over previous years in terms of both the number of issues and the direction of disclosure, responding to concerns about Mindray Healthcare's environmental, social and governance practices.

Comprehensively review and update the system for sustainable development

 

In 2021, Mindray Medical comprehensively reviewed and updated the environmental, social and governance ESG governance system.

 

The company renamed the Strategy Committee of the Board of Directors as the Strategy and Social Responsibility Committee of the Board of Directors, which is responsible for the study and formulation of social responsibility strategies and policies. The sub-committee, together with the Human resources, R&D and supply chain functions, runs the company's business in a responsible manner by integrating its own business with a sustainable strategy based on the system.

 

Mindray Medical mentioned that in the process of formulating future strategic goals, while pursuing economic benefits and protecting shareholders' rights and interests, it will fully safeguard creditors' interests, pay attention to environmental protection, community interests, employees' and customers' rights and interests, and actively promote the common development of the industrial chain and promote social sustainable development.

 

Promote high-end medical technology and innovation to drive the future

The company built the ultrasonic "Ruiying Cloud ++" platform to help Shenzhen Baoan People's Hospital to carry out remote real-time ultrasonic consultation, with more than 2,000 cases, connecting the urgent diagnostic needs in remote areas with the high-quality medical resources in Shenzhen. BeneHeartC series AED is developed by the company, which can discharge faster and give corresponding intelligent first aid guidance according to the level of the rescuer during the whole first aid process. It not only ensures the first aid efficiency and reliability of the first aid equipment, but also improves the usability and helps the first aid awareness and skill promotion. The company is actively engaged in international cooperation. In Egypt, where obstetrics and gynecology medical equipment is relatively backward, Mindray Medical has trained more than 1,500 obstetrics and gynecology medical personnel, and over 80,000 people use Mindray medical ultrasound diagnosis every year.

 

Promote green development and build a sustainable workplace

 

According to the report, addressing climate change is one of Mindray Healthcare's most important issues. The company's ESG Executive Committee has an environmental management sub-committee, which is responsible for identifying the risks and opportunities of climate change, and recommending targets (including carbon targets) and action plans. For the first time, the report discloses Mindray Medical Range 1 and Range 2 carbon dioxide emissions, including environmental data from the company's 14 main research and development and production sites. Mindray Medical said it is actively exploring and setting carbon targets and will further plan emission reduction paths based on operational scenarios.

 

In terms of dealing with extreme weather, Mindray Medical focuses on improving the ability of supply chain to ensure business continuity under extreme weather, and adopts multi-place arrangement of key raw materials and suppliers, multi-place arrangement of production capacity and multi-place arrangement of product warehouse. In 2021, the company employed 14,684 employees, an increase of 24% over the previous year, and provided training to 12,570 of them, with a training coverage rate of 96%. Women make up 29 percent of the workforce and 33 percent of senior management. The company has 52 overseas subsidiaries in about 40 countries around the world, with foreign employees accounting for more than 11%, 79% of which are responsible for overseas business. In 19 countries, 100% local employees are employed.

The company builds the Dangshan Mindray Medical production Base in Dangshan County, Anhui Province, which will become one of the main production bases of Mindray Medical in China. 全面梳理更新可持续发展体系

 

2021年,迈瑞医疗全面梳理并更新了环境、社会及管治ESG治理体系。

 

公司将董事会战略委员会更名为董事会战略与社会责任委员会,负责研究拟定社会责任战略和政策。随后,公司进一步成立了ESG(环境、社会与管治)执行委员会,具体制定社会责任战略规划、目标,同时组建治理架构,推动项目落地实施。执行委员会梳理出包括规范企业治理、创新驱动未来、业务链协同发展、推动绿色发展、打造可持续职场、实现共同富裕六大领域在内的可持续发展体系,专门设立环境管理、共同富裕管理子委员会,负责碳排放、共同富裕等范畴的目标设定、规划执行工作。子委员会连同人力资源、研发和供应链等职能部门,以体系为依归,将自身业务与可持续发展策略紧密结合,以负责任的方式运营公司业务。

具体来看,迈瑞医疗对呼吸机涡轮和气压传感器做出改造,让高海拔地区如青藏高原腹地和玻利维亚首都拉巴斯的居民用上性能稳定、方便易用的呼吸机。公司打造超声“瑞影云++”平台帮助深圳宝安人民医院开展超声远程实时会诊,病例超过两千人次,将偏远地区亟待满足的诊断需求和深圳优质医疗资源连接起来。公司研发BeneHeartC系列AED,放电更快,并且能在整个急救过程中根据施救者的水平给予相应的智能急救指导,在确保急救设备的急救效率和可靠性的同时,提高易用性,助力急救意识和技能推广。公司积极投身国际合作,在妇产科医疗设备相对落后的埃及,迈瑞医疗已培训超过1,500名妇产科医务人员,每年超8万人使用迈瑞医疗超声检查诊断。

 

推动绿色发展 打造可持续职场

 

报告表示,应对气候变化,是迈瑞医疗最重要的议题之一。公司ESG执行委员会下设环境管理子委员会,负责识别气候变化的风险和机遇,建议目标(含碳目标)和行动方案等。报告首次公布了迈瑞医疗范围一和范围二的二氧化碳排放量,环境数据的统计范围囊括公司14个主要研发、生产场所。迈瑞医疗表示正在积极探索和制定碳目标,并将基于运营情景进一步规划减排路径。

 

在应对极端天气方面,迈瑞医疗着力提升供应链在极端天气下的业务持续保障能力,采取关键原料的多地多供应商安排、生产能力的多地安排以及产品仓库的多地安排。同时,对数据信息存储制定灾备策略,对生产基地和研发中心进行抗震、抗风、抗洪等设计。

 

报告强调,迈瑞医疗将员工视为公司可持续发展的核心竞争力。公司尊重员工,保障员工合法权益,为员工提供多样化晋升通道和培训机会。2021年,公司共聘用员工14,684人,较上一年度增长24%,共为其中12,570名员工提供了培训,培训覆盖率达到了96%。公司制定并严格遵守《多元化与包容性政策》,持续营造开放、包容的工作环境。女性员工占到全体员工的29%,在高级管理层中,女性占比达到33%。公司在全球约40个国家设有52家中国境外子公司,外籍员工占比超过11%,其中负责海外业务的外籍员工占比79%,在19个国家实现100%聘用当地员工。

2021年,迈瑞医疗发挥自身医疗健康产业的优势,以产业振兴为乡村振兴注入新动能。公司在安徽省砀山县建设迈瑞医疗砀山生产基地,将成为迈瑞医疗在全国的主要生产基地之一。公司期待通过技术引入和产业协同发展,带动砀山县乡村振兴,早日实现共同富裕。未来,公司将携手砀山县政府建设职业技术学校,推动当地职业技术人才的培养。
