On December 2, Beijing time, Tesla held a delivery ceremony for its Semi electric semi truck at the Gigafactory in Nevada, delivering the first batch of new cars to PepsiCo. It means the first electric truck capable of traveling long distances is about to go into operation, as Tesla continues to lead the transition to electrification of modern transportation.
Semi truck refers to a combination of one or more bodies, used to transport cargo trucks. Consistent with the world's best-selling "S3XY" family passenger car products of Tesla, the Semi is also independently developed by Tesla and has leading advantages in driving performance, battery life and intelligent driving.
Creating a landmark work in the green transport industry
Trucks make up just 1% of all vehicles in the United States, but account for 20% of greenhouse gas emissions and 36% of particulate emissions. In order to "accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy", Tesla is deploying the Semi electric truck to develop sustainable energy and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
On the outside, the Semi perfectly embodies Tesla's clean, geeky style, more like a bullet. The large front windscreen is seamlessly integrated with the rounded and full front cover, creating a smooth visual experience and aerodynamic performance of 0.36Cd drag coefficient.
In interior design, the Semi has the same futuristic design as Tesla's S3XY family. In a groundbreaking move, Tesla eliminated the passenger area for the Semi, leaving only the driver's seat right in the middle of the cockpit. A large touch screen on each side of the driver's seat displays vehicle and road information, left and right rearview mirror images and other contents. The Semi also comes with adjustable armrests and water cup holders for the driver, and adjustable rear seats can be added as needed.
In terms of driving performance, the Semi is equipped with the same three independent carbon fiber protective sleeve motors as the Model S Plaid and uses a 1000V high-voltage architecture. The Semi can accelerate 100 km in 20 seconds with a full load. Strong performance and quick power response allow the Semi to start with a full load, and climb slopes and mountain roads as easily as on highways. On urban roads, drivers no longer have to worry about starting too slowly at intersections and changing lanes awkwardly, further improving traffic efficiency.
With its superior performance, the Semi is also extremely efficient. The Semi achieves ultra-low energy consumption of less than 2kWh/ mi and has a high speed range of 500 miles with a full load. At the same time, the Semi can be charged at the exclusive Megacharger for 30 minutes to replenish the maximum driving energy of about 560km, and can be set off again in time for lunch.
Lowering car ownership and operating costs: Save $1 million over three years
Thanks to its ultra-low energy consumption level, the Semi has a lower cost of ownership. The Semi costs about 2.5 times less per mile to charge than diesel, saving up to $200,000 in fuel costs over three years. Like the Tesla S3XY family, the Semi also allows drivers to spend less time and money on vehicle repairs and maintenance with features such as remote diagnostics, OTA over the air software updates, and fewer moving parts.
For passive safety, the all-electric architecture gives the Semi a lower center of gravity, reducing the risk of rollover while also reducing the chance of parts invading the cab in the event of an accident. The braking energy recovery system not only fully saves the recovery energy, but also greatly reduces the wear and tear of the brake pad when decelerating downhill, which makes the truck safer during long distance driving.
The Semi comes standard with active safety features such as automatic emergency braking, automatic lane keeping and forward collision warning to double the safety of long-distance transportation in high-speed scenarios. Currently, the smart driving and other forward-looking technologies adopted by Semi have been verified in the best-selling models Model 3 and Model Y in many markets. According to the data, Tesla cars using the Autopilot self-driving assistance system are eight times less likely to be involved in an accident than the average of all cars in the United States.
OTA in-flight updates change the pace of "one change in three years, one change in five years" by making upgrades as easy as mobile updates through free software push, and keeping Tesla vehicles up to date.

打造绿色运输行业里程碑式作品
卡车仅占美国所有车辆总数的1%,但温室气体排放却占比达到20%,颗粒排放则高达36%。为了实现“加速世界向可持续能源的转变”,特斯拉布局Semi电动卡车,发展可持续能源并减少二氧化碳的排放。
外观设计上,Semi完美呈现了特斯拉简洁、极客的风格,更像一颗子弹。大尺寸前挡风玻璃与圆润饱满的前盖无缝衔接,营造出视觉流畅感受的同时,也带来了风阻系数0.36Cd的空气动力学表现。
内饰设计上,Semi拥有与特斯拉S3XY家族一样具有未来感的设计。特斯拉开创性地为Semi取消了副驾驶区域,只留下了位于座舱正中央的驾驶位。驾驶位两侧分别设置一块超大触摸屏,显示车辆和道路信息、左右后视镜画面和其他内容。Semi还为驾驶员配备了可调扶手和水杯架,也可根据用户需要加装后排可调座椅。
驾驶性能上, Semi搭载了与Model S Plaid相同的三个独立的碳纤维保护套筒电机,采用了1000V的高压架构。满载情况下Semi 百公里加速仅需20秒。强大的性能与迅速的动力响应,让Semi在满载情况下也能灵活起步,爬斜坡、走山路也如同在高速公路上一样自如。城市道路中,司机也不必再为路口起步过慢、变道笨拙而烦恼,进一步提升交通效率。
拥有超强性能的同时,Semi也具有极高的效率。Semi实现了2kWh/英里以下的超低能耗,在满载的情况下拥有500英里(约合804.7公里)高速续航表现。同时,Semi在专属充电桩Megacharger充电30分钟即可补充最高约560公里续航能量,一顿午餐的时间可再次启程。
降低拥车和运营成本:三年省出一百万
正是得益于超低能耗水平,Semi拥有了更低的拥车成本。Semi每英里的充电成本,比使用柴油便宜约2.5倍,三年内即可省下高达20万美元(约142万元人民币)的燃油费用。与特斯拉S3XY家族一样,Semi还可通过远程诊断、OTA空中软件更新等功能与更少的移动部件,让司机在车辆维修、保养上花费更少的时间和金钱。
被动安全方面,全电动架构让Semi的重心更低,减少翻车风险的同时,也降低了事故发生时零部件入侵驾驶室的几率。制动能量回收系统在充分节约回收能源的同时,也因为极大减少了下坡减速时刹车片的磨损,让卡车在长途行驶时候,安全性更上一层楼。
Semi标配主动安全功能,自动紧急制动、自动车道保持、前向碰撞预警等功能让高速场景下的长途运输安全加倍。目前Semi所采用的智能驾驶等前瞻技术,已在多国市场热销车型Model 3、Model Y上得到验证。数据显示,使用Autopilot自动驾驶辅助系统的特斯拉汽车比美国所有汽车发生事故的平均概率要低8倍。
OTA空中升级改变了汽车“三年一小改、五年一大改”的更迭节奏,通过免费的软件推送,让车辆升级和手机升级一样简单,让特斯拉车辆始终保持在最新状态。
