In 2020, we did a very meaningful thing: with the active participation of all the GEM, the Group's parks recycled nearly 8 tons (7755.8kg) of electronic waste in half a year. This electronic waste, which is accumulated by waste batteries and small household appliances, is of great significance.

What is electronic waste?

Electronic waste refers to discarded electrical appliances or electronic equipment that are no longer used, mainly including large household appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, televisions, small household appliances such as rice cookers, electric kettles, electric fans, hair dryers, and communication electronic products such as computers and mobile phones.

At present, the annual per capita output of e-waste in China is about 7 kg!

Unlike domestic waste, waste electrical and electronic products are complex in composition, including heavy metals and other substances harmful to human health and the environment.

Including lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, plastics including PVC, brominated flame retardants (BFRs), barium, beryllium, ink phosphides, and other additives

If discarded at will, it will do great harm to human body and environment.

Recycling of electronic wastes

"Garbage is a misplaced resource," and e-waste also contains reusable recycled materials such as precious metals. According to relevant regulations, waste electrical and electronic products belong to recyclables.

As early as 2008, China promulgated the Regulations on the Management of Recycling and Disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic Products, and constantly improved the relevant supporting policies.

At present, GEM has realized the factory, green and complete resource utilization of electronic waste, forming an industrial chain of "fine disassembly of electronic waste-fine utilization of waste hardware-fine utilization of waste plastics-comprehensive utilization of rare and rare metals".

In the practice of recycling waste household appliances, large household appliances do not be worried about recycling, but small household appliances at home have no way to recycle. Compared with large household appliances, small and old household appliances have miscellaneous categories, low recycling value, and lack of professional environmental protection recycling channels. If they are left idle at home or discarded with domestic waste, they will not only occupy family living space, but also flow into non-professional environmental protection dismantling channels, resulting in waste of resources and environmental pollution of water, atmosphere and soil.

In order to implement the reduction, harmlessness and resource treatment of waste, in 2020, the Group promulgated the "GEM Waste Classification Management Measures" (hereinafter referred to as the "Measures"), combined with the waste and scrap classification and recycling work, to start the trading activities of waste batteries and small household appliances throughout the Group.

Since June 2020, the Group has implemented a unified recycling obligation, designating the first Saturday of each month as the recycling day for waste batteries and small household appliances, calling on all parks to actively organize internal staff to continue recycling activities for waste batteries and small household appliances. And the electrical and electronic waste products (including waste batteries) generated by households shall be transferred to the administrative departments of each park for recycling and treatment. Each person shall not be less than 3kg per year.

The majority of employees responded positively to the call and sent all kinds of electronic waste at home to the company for unified disposal. Recycling and trading activities of waste batteries and small household appliances have become a green concept, as a green habit, deeply integrated into the hearts of GEM people.

2020年，我们做了一件非常有意义的事情：在全体格林美人的积极参与下，集团各园区半年累计回收电子废弃物近8吨（7755.8kg）。这由一颗颗废旧电池、一件件废旧小家电堆积起来的电子废弃物，意义非凡。

什么是电子废弃物

电子废弃物，是指被废弃不再使用的电器或电子设备，主要包括电冰箱、空调、洗衣机、电视机等大型家用电器，电饭锅、电热水壶、电风扇、电吹风等生活小家电，以及电脑、手机等通讯电子产品等。

随着人们生活水平的不断提升以及技术的不断进步，电器电子产品的使用日益广泛，同时，废弃电器电子产品的数量和种类也与日俱增。

目前，中国每年电子废弃物人均产量约7公斤！

与生活垃圾不同，废弃的电器电子产品成分复杂，其中包含了重金属等对人体健康和环境有害的物质。

包括铅、镉、汞六价铬、包含PVC的塑料、溴化阻燃物（BFRs）、钡、铍、油墨磷化物及其它添加物

电子废弃物的回收

“垃圾是放错位置的资源”，电子废弃物同时也包含了贵金属等可重新利用的再生材料。按照相关规定，废弃电器电子产品属于可回收物。

早在2008年，我国就相继颁布了《废弃电器电子产品回收处理管理条例》，并不断完善相关配套政策。

 目前，格林美已实现电子废弃物的工厂化、绿色化与完整资源化利用，形成了“电子废弃物精细化拆解—废五金精细化利用—废塑料精细化利用—稀贵稀散金属综合利用”产业链。

在废旧家电回收实践中，大家电不愁回收，但是家里的小家电却回收无门。与大家电相比，小旧家电品类冗杂、回收利用价值较低，并且缺乏专业环保回收渠道。如果选择将其闲置在家或随生活垃圾一并丢弃，不仅占用家庭居住空间，而且可能流入非专业环保拆解渠道，造成资源浪费和水、大气、土壤环境污染。

为践行废弃物的减量化、无害化、资源化处理，2020年集团出台《格林美垃圾分类管理办法》（以下简称《办法》），结合垃圾与报废品分类回收工作，启动全集团范围废旧电池、小型家电交投活动。

自2020年6月起，集团实施统一的回收义务，将每月第一周星期六定为废旧电池、小型家电交投回收日，号召各园区积极组织内部员工持续开展废旧电池、小型家电回收活动，将家庭产生的报废电器电子产品（含废旧电池）交投至各园区行政部门回收处理，每人每年不得少于3kg。

广大员工积极响应号召，纷纷将家中的各类电子废弃物交投至公司统一处理。废旧电池、小型家电回收交投活动已经成为一个绿色理念，作为一种绿色习惯，深深融入了格林美人的心中。
