The State
Power Investment Corporation Shenquan II Offshore Wind Power Project (
"Shenquan II Project") has successfully achieved full capacity
grid-connected power generation recently. This project is the offshore wind
power project with the largest single unit capacity in batch application in the
world, and is also the first large-scale application of 66 kV zero-carbon
fluorine-free environment-friendly gas insulated switchgear (66 kV Blue GIS) in
offshore wind power by Siemens Energy.

II Project is located in the southern sea area of Shenquan Town, Huilai County,
Jieyang City, Guangdong Province, with a total installed capacity of 502 MW, 16
8 MW and 34 11 MW wind turbines installed, a supporting offshore booster
station built, and 66 kV submarine cable laid for the first time.
Siemens Energy will provide 36 sets of 66 kV Blue GIS and 36 sets of ester oil transformers for the wind turbines of the project, one set of 220 kV and 66 kV gas insulated switchgear and two sets of 220 kV/270 MVA transformers for the offshore booster station. While comprehensively helping the offshore wind farm collector system to move towards a higher voltage level of 66 kV, it also meets the requirements of clean power supply and carbon emission reduction of the project.

Energy Ester Oil Transformer
After the
Shenquan II project is put into operation, it is expected to provide 1.743
billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually to the Guangdong-Hong
Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, meeting the annual electricity demand of nearly
900000 households, reducing the consumption of standard coal by about 527000
tons and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.4 million tons, which
will effectively increase the proportion of green energy and inject new impetus
into the low-carbon economic development of the Greater Bay Area.
The 36 sets of 66 kV Blue GIS equipment supplied by Siemens Energy use 100% fluorine-free clean air insulation technology, which will not pollute the air or marine environment by generating additional fluorine-containing gases and carbon dioxide emissions, nor will it pose a health hazard to equipment operators. According to the normal leakage rate of the national standard, the 36 equipments can reduce 7303 tons of carbon dioxide emissions in the whole life cycle, which will contribute to the promotion of zero carbon emissions and sustainable development.

At the
same time, offshore wind farms need safe and reliable transformers to ensure
stable operation. Siemens Energy provides efficient and reliable ester oil
transformers for wind turbines. They have compact structure, light weight,
strong corrosion resistance and excellent seismic performance, and can be
installed in the wind turbine nacelle or tower, especially in the offshore
environment.
In addition, the transformer replaces the traditional mineral oil with natural synthetic ester insulating oil with high ignition point and biodegradability, which makes the operation of the equipment more environmentally friendly and safe, and the operation loss is far below the requirement of China's national standards, thus ensuring the stable, safe, efficient and environmentally friendly grid-connected operation of Shenquan II Project.
