CATL Energy Storage Laboratory launched UL Solutions' UL 9540A WTDP accredited laboratory project to form a more comprehensive battery energy storage system test and verification capability

The cooperation between the two sides will help speed up the large-scale promotion of green renewable energy more safely.

On January 17, CATL signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation with UL Solutions, a global expert in applied safety science, to jointly promote the safe and reliable application of battery energy storage systems and power batteries.

According to the memorandum, CATL will start applying for the WTDP accreditation laboratory of UL 9540a. UL 9540A is a test standard for assessing the spread of large-scale thermal runaway in battery energy storage systems. After obtaining the WTDP accreditation laboratory qualification of UL Solutions, CATL can use its own laboratory testing equipment to carry out UL 9540a testing under the supervision of UL Solutions personnel, thus further improving the efficiency of product testing and shortening the product market cycle.

As the first enterprise in China to apply for UL Solutions UL 9540a WTDP Accreditation Laboratory, CATL has the ability of testing and verification at all levels and in all aspects. At present, CATL has obtained the WTDP accreditation laboratory qualification of UL1973 Energy Storage and Power Auxiliary Battery Standard, UL 9540 Energy Storage System and Equipment Standard and UL 2580 Power Battery Standard awarded by UL Solutions.

The star products of CATL, outdoor liquid-cooled energy storage cabinet EnerOne and container-type liquid-cooled energy storage system EnerC, have both obtained the latest UL 9540a test report, marking that CATL has become the first enterprise in China to obtain the latest UL 9540a test report of UL Solutions at the core, cabinet and container levels.

In addition, the two sides will give full play to their respective advantages, carry out in-depth cooperation in the research of standards in the fields of safety and environmental protection of lithium batteries, and participate in the research and revision of relevant standards for energy storage batteries and power batteries. The two sides will also jointly explore business cooperation in reducing carbon emissions and other sustainable development.

根据备忘录，宁德时代将启动申请UL 9540A的WTDP认可实验室。UL 9540A是评估电池储能系统大规模热失控蔓延情况的测试标准。获得UL Solutions的WTDP认可实验室资质后，宁德时代能够在UL Solutions人员的监督下，使用自有实验室测试设备进行UL 9540A测试，从而进一步提高产品测试效率，缩短产品上市周期。

作为国内首家启动申请UL Solutions UL 9540A WTDP认可实验室的企业，宁德时代具备各层级、全方面的测试验证能力。目前，宁德时代已获得了UL Solutions授予的UL1973储能和动力辅助电池标准、 UL 9540储能系统和设备标准以及UL 2580动力电池标准的WTDP认可实验室资质。
