[Bangkok, Thailand, December 7th] Huawei, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the Ministry of Education of Thailand announced the establishment of a new strategic partnership to jointly launch the "Green Education" collaboration initiative. The initiative aims to support the construction of green infrastructure in Thai schools and communities, providing sustainable development education for the community and the younger generation, nurturing local talent required for the development of the green energy industry.

The three main areas of the Green Education collaboration initiative include:

• Green Schools: Supporting Thai secondary schools in establishing climate-resilient green infrastructure and organizing education and training for teachers and students on climate change and sustainable development.

• Green Skills: Supporting the construction of digital energy facilities in Thai vocational schools, cultivating practical skills for students, educators, and the community, and promoting the development of a team of green energy engineers.

• Green Communities: Supporting digitalization and green development training for local communities and learning centers, enhancing community green awareness and empowering the youth.

Building upon its global initiative TECH4ALL, Huawei will collaborate with UNESCO and the Ministry of Education of Thailand to jointly develop green solutions covering the three areas mentioned above. The project will provide digital energy technology to schools, offer green education training for students and communities, and conduct digital skills and climate action education in rural and remote areas of Thailand through a digital mobile classroom.

UNESCO emphasizes that "Green Education" is not only about knowledge and practices related to the ecological environment but also contributes to the sustainable use of natural resources by present and future generations.

"The Sustainable Development Goals are at a mid-term stage and require collective efforts. This partnership will address climate change through green education, and we are honored to support Thailand in taking green actions to make the world a better place," said Kirimoke Drollett, Director of the UNESCO Bangkok Office, at the launch ceremony.

This Green Education initiative signifies a shared commitment to enhancing the capacity of young people, communities, and other stakeholders to play an active role in addressing climate change. Chaipat Panwatanasakul, Curriculum Development Expert and Director of Strategic Planning at the Bureau of Learning Promotion under the Ministry of Education of Thailand, emphasized, "I am pleased to collaborate with UNESCO and Huawei Thailand. This Green Education initiative aligns with the mission of the Promotion of Learning Act, which aims to enable lifelong learning for people of all genders, ages, and professions and promote digital inclusion."

Thailand has announced its goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. To support the achievement of these goals, Huawei will leverage its technological capabilities in digital and green solutions to drive Thailand's energy transition. "Over the past 24 years, Huawei has been committed to supporting Thailand's journey towards a digital and low-carbon future. To date, Huawei has installed over 5GW of inverters in Thai households and industries. Through this Green Education project, we will further utilize our innovative technology in digital energy and our experience in green energy training to support the construction of green infrastructure and create local job opportunities in Thailand," said Liu Jianmin, Head of Human Resources at Huawei Thailand, at the opening ceremony.

More than 150 people, including UNESCO Bangkok Office representatives, local officials, partners, teachers, students, and community members, attended the launch ceremony held in Thailand. As part of the community empowerment initiative, several vocational schools in the community showcased locally grown agricultural products.
