The dual-carbon strategy is an important national initiative to actively address the challenges of climate change and promote economic transformation and sustainable development. Achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals has gradually become a social consensus. With the expansion of 5G network construction, the energy consumption of 5G networks continues to grow, and the urgency of energy conservation and emission reduction is imminent. The AAU equipment, which consumes the most power in the 5G network, has become a top priority for power-saving and emission reduction efforts. Current energy-saving technologies at the AAU equipment level mainly include symbol shutdown, channel shutdown, carrier shutdown, and deep sleep, with deep sleep being the most effective in terms of energy conservation. In deep sleep mode, the power consumption of a single AAU can be reduced to 100 watts. Promoting the development and evolution of 5G energy-saving technologies and creating an efficient 5G network has become an important task and challenge for green, low-carbon operations.

Recently, Hebei Mobile has actively responded to the national strategy and implemented the China Mobile dual-carbon action plan. Together with industry partners, they have explored new power-saving modes with even lower energy consumption, and have collaborated with ZTE to complete the research and large-scale commercial deployment of the 5G AAU automatic start-stop function. The AAU automatic start-stop function, through the perfect combination of software technology and hardware architecture, can be deployed with just one remote software upgrade, reducing the standby power consumption of the AAU to below 5 watts. Building on deep sleep, the power consumption is further reduced by over 90%, achieving ultimate energy savings of over 98% for radio frequency equipment and creating a new paradigm of green, energy-saving, and low-carbon operation for 5G networks.

Currently, Hebei Mobile's 5G network has formed a 700M/2.6G/4.9G multi-frequency coordinated networking structure. The dual-layer networking of 700M and 2.6G provides convenient conditions for implementing the extreme power-saving strategy of AAU automatic start-stop for 2.6G. Since August 2023, Hebei Mobile has successively activated the automatic start-stop function for nearly ten thousand macro base station 5G AAUs, with an expected annual power saving of 3.5 million kilowatt-hours, opening up a new shortcut for high-quality and sustainable development for enterprises.

In the future, Hebei Mobile will continue to promote the evolution and application of energy-saving technologies, expand automatic start-stop technology to various scenarios such as high-speed rail, subway, and shopping malls, and strengthen on-demand wake-up capabilities. While ensuring user experience and service quality, they will continue to enhance the commercial and social benefits of 5G networks, contributing to the timely realization of the country's "dual-carbon" goals.

近日,河北移动积极响应国家战略,践行中国移动双碳行动计划,联合产业合作伙伴多次探索能耗更低的节电新模式,携手中兴通讯完成5G AAU自动启停功能研发和规模商用部署。AAU自动启停功能通过软件技术与硬件架构的完美结合,仅需远程软件一键升级,即可完成功能部署,AAU待机能耗降至5瓦以下,在深度休眠基础上功耗再降90%以上,实现射频设备超98%的极致节能,打造5G网络绿色节能低碳运营新范式。

目前,河北移动5G网络已形成700M/2.6G/4.9G多频协同组网结构,700M与2.6G双层组网为2.6G开启AAU自动启停极致节电策略提供了便利条件。2023年8月以来,河北移动已陆续开启近万个宏基站5G AAU自动启停功能,预期每年降耗节电350万度,为企业高质量可持续发展开辟一条新的捷径。

未来,河北移动将持续推动节能技术演进与研究应用,将自动启停技术扩展至高铁、地铁、商场等多种场景,并强化按需唤醒能力,在确保用户体验和服务质量的前提下,持续提升5G网络的商业效益和社会效益,为国家“双碳”目标如期实现贡献力量。
