Xinhua News Agency, Belém, Brazil, November 18 (Reporters Yang Jiahe, Xie Zhao) During the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), a side event themed "Building a Green and Low-Carbon Urban Future Together" was held at the "China Pavilion" on November 17. More than 200 Chinese and foreign guests exchanged views on the paths of urban green and low-carbon transition, sharing cutting-edge concepts, typical practices and cooperation achievements.

Li Gao, Head of the Chinese Delegation and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, stated in his speech that cities are the main source of global carbon emissions and the frontline for green and low-carbon transition. China encourages cities to explore green and low-carbon development paths based on local conditions. Since 2010, 81 low-carbon city pilot projects have been launched, covering cities in different regions, with different development levels, resource endowments and work foundations. Practice has shown that clear planning goals and solid actions are effective means to control urban carbon dioxide emissions. The carbon emission intensity of 95% of the pilot cities has dropped significantly, the total carbon emissions of 38% of the pilot cities have maintained a steady downward trend, and the growth rate of total carbon emissions of 25% of the pilot cities has declined, achieving remarkable results in carbon dioxide emission control.

中国代表团团长、生态环境部副部长李高在致辞中表示，城市是全球碳排放主要来源，也是绿色低碳转型的前沿阵地。中国鼓励城市因地制宜探索绿色低碳发展路径，自2010年以来开展了81个低碳城市试点，涵盖了不同地区、不同发展水平、不同资源禀赋和工作基础的城市。实践表明，明确的规划目标与扎实的行动是控制城市二氧化碳排放的有效手段，95%的试点城市碳排放强度显著下降，38%的试点城市碳排放总量稳中有降，25%的试点城市碳排放总量增速下降，二氧化碳排放控制成效明显。

"The future of cities is related to everyone's future," Li Gao said. Promoting urban green and low-carbon transition requires the joint efforts of governments, enterprises, scientific research institutions, social organizations and the public. "It is hoped that more cities will join the global low-carbon action network, more enterprises will invest in the R&D and promotion of green technologies, and more members of the public will become advocates and practitioners of green lifestyles, jointly injecting greater momentum and more certainty into global climate governance."

“城市的未来，关乎每个人的未来。”李高说，推动城市绿色低碳转型，需要政府、企业、科研机构、社会组织和公众的协同努力。“希望更多城市加入全球低碳行动网络，更多企业投入绿色技术研发推广，更多公众成为绿色生活的倡导者、实践者，共同为全球气候治理注入更大动力和更多确定性。”

In the dialogue and exchange session, representatives from Baoting (Hainan), Shenzhen and other places showcased the green transition practices of Chinese counties and cities. In addition, the side event also displayed technological innovation achievements such as satellite remote sensing-aided urban low-carbon monitoring technology and clean fuel gasification solutions, and released reports including "Towards an Urban Future with Permanent Blue Skies: Low-Carbon Transition Paths for China's Iron and Steel Industry" and "Stories of Qingdao's Green Transition and Development", providing replicable "Chinese solutions" for cities around the world.

在对话交流环节，海南保亭、深圳等地代表展示了中国县域和城市绿色转型实践。此外，边会还展示了卫星遥感助力城市低碳监测技术和清洁燃料气化解决方案等技术创新成果，发布了《迈向蓝天永驻的城市未来：中国钢铁行业低碳转型路径》《青岛绿色转型发展故事》等报告，为全球城市提供可复制的“中国方案”。
