Vitesco Technology, the world's leading supplier of powertrain technology and sustainable mobility, announced the official commissioning of its solar power plant at its Huashan factory in Wuhu. This marks a solid step that Vitesco Technology has taken to practice sustainable development with practical actions and to contribute to the Group's carbon-neutral production goals. It also shows the company's determination to "help future clean travel" as its mission.

Wuhu Solar Power Station is Vitesco's second largest solar photovoltaic power station in the Asia-Pacific region so far. It uses photovoltaic modules to absorb sunlight and convert light energy into electrical energy directly for factory production and use, and excess electricity can be sent to the grid.

Compared with traditional power generation modes, solar energy has the advantages of cleanliness, safety, ubiquity, resource adequacy and potential economy. The photovoltaic power station put into use can not only greatly reduce the electricity cost of enterprises, but also play an important role in the long-term energy strategy of enterprises.During the construction of the solar power station project, many disadvantages such as shortage of personnel and construction materials caused by the epidemic were overcome, and the project was completed on schedule at the end of June. The total area of the battery panels covered by the entire power station is nearly 16,000 square meters, which are respectively converted from the factory carport and the warehouse roof. It can achieve an average annual power generation of 1,500MWh (megawatt-hours), and can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 1,200 tons per year,1 equivalent to the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by 65,000 large trees in one year. 2 After the power station is put into use, it is expected to meet 50% of the annual daytime electricity consumption of the Huashan Plant.

Not only the Wuhu factory, but also the solar photovoltaic power station of Vitesco Technology's Tianjin factory was completed in April this year. After the project is put into use, the annual power generation capacity can reach 560MWh (megawatt hour).

"Vitesco's Asia-Pacific production base is making every effort to promote the sustainable development goals set by the group," said Lin Qinghe, Vice President of Vitesco's Asia-Pacific Operations Department, "We are empowering carbon-neutral production with practical actions, and we hope that through the Energy efficiency optimization to achieve a total global energy savings of 8,000MWh (megawatt-hours) by 2030.”

Vitesco Technology has been an independent member of the RE100 Alliance since June 2021 and aims to use 100% renewable energy. In its first Sustainability Report in 2022, the company made climate protection an important sustainable development agenda. The report also shows that Vitesco's internal operations have achieved 90.6% carbon-neutral production in 2021. The company previously announced that it will achieve fully climate-neutral production operations by 2030.

芜湖太阳能电站是迄今为止纬湃科技在亚太地区规模第二的太阳能光伏电站,它利用光伏组件吸收太阳光、将光能转换成电能直接供工厂生产使用,多余电量可输送至电网。与传统发电模式相比,太阳能具有清洁性、安全性、广泛性、资源充足性及潜在经济性等优点。投入使用的光伏电站不仅可以大幅降低企业用电成本,更在企业长期的能源战略中具有重要地位。

太阳能发电站项目施工期间克服了疫情所带来的人员不足、施工材料短缺等诸多不利,于6月底如期竣工。整个发电站所覆盖电池板的总面积近1.6万平方米,分别由工厂车棚和仓库顶棚改建而成。可实现年均发电量达1,500MWh (兆瓦时),每年可减少二氧化碳排放量近1,200吨,1 相当于65,000棵大树一年吸收二氧化碳的量。2 发电站投入使用后,有望满足华山工厂全年白天用电量的50%。

不仅在芜湖工厂,纬湃科技天津工厂太阳能光伏发电站也于今年4月竣工。项目投入使用后每年发电量可达560MWh (兆瓦时)。

“纬湃科技亚太区生产基地正在全力推进集团制定的可持续发展目标,”纬湃科技亚太区运营部副总裁林清河表示,“我们以实际行动赋能碳中和生产,希望通过生产基地的能效优化,实现到2030年全球总共节省8,000MWh (兆瓦时)能耗的目标。”

自2021年6月以来,纬湃科技已成为RE100联盟的独立成员,并以使用100%可再生能源为目标。在2022年首份可持续发展报告中公司将气候保护作为可持续发展重要议程。报告同时表明2021年纬湃科技内部运营已经实现90.6%的碳中和生产。公司此前宣布将在2030年前全面实现气候中和生产运营。
