On April 22, 2022, NIO entered into a strategic cooperation with the World Wide Fund for Nature (Switzerland) Beijing Office, and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) became the co-sponsor of Clean Parks.
Clean Parks is a global ecological co-construction plan initiated by NIO in December 2021. It is the first open platform initiated by an automobile company to support the construction of national Parks and natural reserves in the world, under the background of promoting the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality and steadily promoting the construction of national Parks. According to the agreement, after becoming the co-initiator of Clean Parks, WWF will work with NIO to build a Clean and low-carbon energy self-recycling system for national Parks and protected nature communities, promote green travel and green development, build key demonstration projects of Clean Parks, and protect the authenticity and integrity of the ecosystem.
At the same time, WWF will leverage its strength in biodiversity conservation and sustainable development by working with leading scientific institutions around the world to explore nature-based biodiversity conservation solutions as part of Clean Parks' scientific guidance document.
WWF, founded in 1961 and headquartered in Grang, Switzerland, is a global environmental protection organization and the first international non-governmental organization invited by the Chinese government to carry out conservation work in China. WWF is committed to preventing the degradation of the Earth's natural environment and building a future of harmony between man and nature. This includes protecting the world's biodiversity, ensuring the sustainable use of renewable resources, and promoting practices that reduce pollution and wasteful consumption.
Lu Lunyan, Chief representative of WWF (Switzerland) Beijing Office, said that WWF has actively participated in the construction of a protected nature area system with national parks as the main body and supported the high-quality development of national parks since China launched the pilot project of national park system in 2015. Based on the concept of "Clean Parks", NIO and WWF will leverage their respective resources and technological advantages to provide solutions and practical experience for the construction of national Parks and nature reserves with Chinese characteristics and the green development of surrounding communities.
