On July 15, Midea Group Home Air Conditioning Division (referred to as "Midea Air Conditioning") was invited to participate in the "2022 Green and Low-Carbon Standardization Exchange Conference", and jointly released the industry's first air-conditioning product with the China National Institute of Standardization (referred to as "Bid Winning Institute"). Carbon Footprint and Carbon Reduction Assessment Technical Report. The event was hosted by the Bid Winning Institute. Zhao Penggao, Deputy Director of the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection of the National Development and Reform Commission, Wei Hong, Deputy Director of the Standard Technology Department of the State Administration for Market Regulation, and Li Zhiping, Vice President of the Bid Winning Institute attended the event and delivered speeches.

As the world's largest producer and consumer of air conditioners, my country's household air conditioner production accounts for more than 80% of the world's total, and the social population is as high as 540 million units. Household air conditioners have high total energy consumption, rapid growth rate, and great potential for energy conservation and emission reduction, and have become the focus of government energy conservation and carbon reduction policies at all levels.

As a leading home appliance company, Midea Air Conditioning has been committed to the energy saving and carbon reduction of home appliance products. Since the official implementation of the new energy efficiency national standard for air conditioners on July 1, 2020, Midea air conditioners have taken the lead in switching the entire series of products to the new energy efficiency standards, and took the lead in obtaining the first energy saving certificate after the promulgation of the new energy efficiency of air conditioners, in order to lead the industry's new energy efficiency upgrade , and make positive contributions to promoting energy conservation and emission reduction.

At the meeting, Li Jinbo, director of Midea Air Conditioning Innovation Research Institute, and Bao Wei, director of Foshan Green Development Innovation Research Institute of the Bidding Institute, jointly released two technical reports on "Carbon Footprint" and "Carbon Reduction" of Midea Air Conditioning Typical Products. The results show that the carbon footprint of one of Midea’s main energy-efficient air conditioners is 4119.38 kg CO2eq in the whole life cycle, and the proportion of carbon footprint in the product use phase is significantly lower than that of ordinary products; the annual carbon emission reduction in the air conditioner use phase reaches 135.5 kg CO2eq , equivalent to the carbon sink produced by planting 9 green trees.

It is reported that this is the industry's first authoritative assessment issued by the air conditioning products carbon reduction assessment report, is an innovative measure for home appliances to reduce carbon assessment. The report focuses on the most important energy-using link of air conditioning products -- the use stage. Based on specific application scenarios and user behavior patterns, the carbon reduction amount of products is scientifically quantified, and the carbon reduction and electricity saving effects of household appliances in the use stage are evaluated explicitly, which has a positive role in promoting green consumption. In the next step, Midea air conditioning will continue to expand the supply of green products through technological innovation and standard guidance, to meet the growing needs of users for a better life, and boost the green and low-carbon transformation of the whole society.

Midea Group has been actively practicing the concept of green development, realizing the green and low-carbon transformation and upgrading of products through scientific and technological innovation, and realizing energy saving and emission reduction in the manufacturing process through mathematical intelligence driven and lean production. Launch in October 2021, midea group group green strategy, around the "green design, green procurement, green manufacturing, green logistics, green recycling, green service" six pillars to build the whole process of green industry chain, actively to reduce carbon emissions, the whole process from the carbon footprint of planning to reach the company internal carbon reach peak 2030 years ago, 2060 years ago to carbon neutral, To facilitate the early realization of the national dual carbon strategy.
