On August 23, the 2022 China Industrial Internet (Jiangmen) Summit Carbon Neutral Open Patent Technology and Application Sub-Forum gave the answer. At the meeting, 10 companies including Tencent, Microsoft China, Alibaba, Baidu, JD.com, Kuaishou, Ant Group, Meituan, Vanke, and Wasion Information jointly announced that they will form a carbon neutrality professional committee and an open technology alliance. For the first time, the member companies of the Carbon Neutralization Committee take openness and sharing as the core concept, disclose the patented technologies related to energy conservation and carbon reduction, and open them to the member units. In the first round, 189 patented technologies will be shared free of charge.

The Carbon Neutrality Professional Committee, led by Tencent, jointly established a public welfare patent pool with domestic and foreign enterprises of the United Nations, which will open its technology patents to members and license them free of charge. They cannot be used for other commercial purposes.

The first round of disclosed patented technologies involve computing optimization, storage saving, network resource saving, computer room data center, equipment energy consumption control, transportation energy saving and emission reduction, building energy saving and other aspects, and realize energy saving and efficiency improvement solutions through various software and hardware technical means. For example, the patent of image data resource compression method solves the technical problem that image resource compression takes up a large amount of memory and causes a large bandwidth burden during transmission. It is a storage saving scheme under the energy saving label of carbon neutral cloud infrastructure.

Technology helps carbon neutrality and digital technologies boost efficiency in transition

Digital technologies could reduce global carbon emissions by 20 percent over the next decade by empowering other industries, according to the Global Association for the Advancement of Electronic Sustainability. According to the "Global Communication Technology Enabling Emissions Reduction Report" co-authored by the Mobile Systems Association and the Carbon Trust, digital technologies reduced global greenhouse gas emissions by 2.135 billion tons in 2018, almost 10 times the mobile Internet industry's own carbon footprint.

“实现碳达峰、碳中和是一场硬仗,是一场大考,需要付出极其艰巨的努力,强有力的科技支撑、先进的技术转化应用都是必不可少的关键力量,更有赖于专家学者、企业的共同努力。”广东省江门市副市长周佩珊在致辞中提到。

此次碳中和专委会,由腾讯公司牵头,联合国外内企业共同组建公益性质专利池,开放其技术专利,免费许可给成员单位使用,不能用于其他商业目的。

首轮公开的专利技术,涉及计算优化、存储节约、网络资源节省、机房数据中心、设备能耗控制、交通节能减排、建筑节能等方面,通过各类软硬件技术手段实现节能提效的解决方案。例如图片数据资源压缩方法的专利,解决图片资源压缩时会占用内存较大,传输时造成很大的带宽负担的技术问题,属于碳中和中云基础设施节能标签下的存储节约方案。

“双碳”目标的实现离不开社会各界的共同努力,强有力的政策支撑、先进的技术转化应用都是必不可少的关键力量,科研机构和科技企业主动承担减碳使命,探索数字化路径是实现碳中和目标的必经之路。

“实现‘双碳‘目标,需要大量产业低碳技术的突破和应用,也需要大量提升效能的管理技术的突破和应用,而数字技术在促进这些技术的突破和应用方面可以发挥重要作用。”腾讯碳中和高级顾问吕学都列举了数字技术在各领域碳排查、助力中小企业减碳、农村村镇减碳、碳账户核算等方向的具体应用,帮助大量绿色低碳初创技术越过“死亡之谷”,更快进入产业化。

江门市联合香港科技大学共建江门双碳实验室,积极打造粤港澳大湾区双碳综合性研究基地和原始创新高地,投入11.2亿元提供占地83.5亩、总建筑面积17.2万平方米的载体,作为实验室首期发展场地。“布局硅能源方向高效稳定柔性光伏技术;下一代硅基叠层光伏技术领域;柔性电力负荷控制技术;探索新型储能技术;生态碳汇与碳资源利用。”江门双碳实验室徐明教授为与会嘉宾分享了江门双碳实验室的五大布局方向,为未来与企业界在双碳领域展开更多有效合作奠定基础。

“通过供应链共享碳足迹原则,其减排量直接影响着行业圈、产业圈和生态圈碳目标的达成,因此供应链脱碳行动需要全领域利益相关方共同参与和推动,共同达成企业的碳目标,共同构建地球生命共同体。”京东物流供应链解决方案部碳中和产品专家王秭分享了供应链减排相关举措。作为首家设立科学碳目标的物流企业,京东物流已建成国内首个“碳中和”物流园区,并首次提出了“供应链共享碳足迹”的减碳路径,通过与上下游携手共享供应链碳足迹,包括排放量和减排量,可以将相互重叠部分的排放量合力通过脱碳技术去碳化,通过分担的方式用最少的成本减去最多的碳排放量。

“阿里巴巴在数据中心规模化部署浸没液冷服务器集群,支持了2022北京冬奥会和多次双11大促,让每个计算和每个点击都变得更加绿色更加环保。”阿里云基础设施资深技术专家钟杨帆先生分享了阿里在绿色算力方面的工作成效。同时阿里巴巴本次也开放了一些关于绿色液冷技术低碳的专利,以促进绿色计算生态的发展,推动整个产业的快速成长,进而做到真正地绿色计算的普惠,实现共创绿色数字经济。

科技助力碳中和 数字技术推进转型效率

据全球电子可持续发展推进协会研究表明,数字技术在未来十年内通过赋能其他行业,可以减少全球碳排放的20%。而移动通信系统协会与碳信托合作撰写的《全球通讯技术赋能减排报告》则显示,2018年数字技术使全球温室气体排放量减少了21.35亿吨,几乎10倍于移动互联网行业自身的碳足迹。

会上,腾讯战略发展部高级顾问翟永平主持了圆桌论坛,相关行业的专家和从业者各抒己见,就数字技术如何助力产业实现低碳转型和碳中和这一话题,发表了看法和对未来的展望。

腾讯数据中心双碳负责人梁家启从数据中心角度谈到,腾讯努力对数据中心PUE优化和提升,通过使用最新一代的TBlock技术,AI,微网等不断提升数据中心绿色水平。在碳减排方面,采用包括CCUS技术,虚拟电场技术、新型的制冷涂料、高效制冷技术、燃料电池、新兴光伏技术等,全方位提升可持续发展能力。希望腾讯能够参与到行业赋能中,让行业的碳中和做得更好。

快手投资拓展总监及电力交易与碳中和负责人杨星介绍“快手作为一家赋能内容产业的公司,关注绿色运营,并采取专项行动,去年办公园区空调的能耗下降超过50%。在最新一期的企业社会责任报告明确提出到2030年实现自建数据中心100%绿电清洁能源的使用。”

百度智能云物联网平台负责人戴宣分享了百度在提升IDC的PUE、办公楼的智能照明、智能供暖供热等方面的努力,以及对工厂的智能智造领域在生产环节的能源开销进行数字化精细化的管控,以达到节能减排效果等具体举措。百度本次开放了多件绿色低碳专利,主要涉及数据中心、服务器的节能减排技术,通过绿色算力助力全社会实现能源转型及节能减排,加快发展“绿色AI”。

万科名誉主席办公室主席王唯唯介绍到,“二十年前,万科是国内最早一批参与推动行业产业升级、推广绿色建筑的企业。今天,万科战略定位城乡建设与生活服务商,在巩固住宅开发、物业服务固有优势基础上,业务已延伸至商业、长租公寓、物流仓储、冰雪度假、教育等多个领域。在万科服务的千家万户与企业客户场景中,非常需要互联网等数字化技术更好的实现碳中和行动的互通互联与提质提效。同时,万科公益基金会也在常年参与、支持中国企业应对气候行动,并代表中国企业连续多年在气候大会(cop)发声。近期我们正在和华为、隆基、吉利等企业商讨,如何通过区块链技术—腾讯至信链—更好的推动更多企业参与碳中和行动。”

打破技术壁垒 让减排技术共享互通

碳中和事关经济社会发展的全面转型,需要各行各业参与其中并采取行动。近两年,互联网企业纷纷加快碳中和方面的长远布局,阿里、百度、腾讯等公司陆续推出一系列碳中和目标和行动路线。作为国内互联网领域节能减排的先行企业,腾讯在自身碳中和技术方面不断进行突破的同时,倡导用开放共创的态度,为社会可持续发展作出积极努力。

在会上,碳中和专委会及碳中和开放技术联盟正式揭牌发布,中国产业互联网发展联盟常务副秘书长陈胜喜,腾讯SSV碳中和实验室主任、碳普惠平台负责人舒展上台揭牌。腾讯知识产权部总监代威,万科集团名誉主席办公室主任王唯唯,百度智能云物联网平台负责人戴宣,阿里云基础设施资深技术专家钟杨帆,快手专利总监李熙,蚂蚁知识产权专家王帅一同见证联盟成立。

今年2月,腾讯正式宣布启动“净零行动”,提出立足自身排放特点和数字化技术优势,不晚于2030年,实现自身运营及供应链的全面碳中和;不晚于2030年,实现100%绿色电力的碳中和目标。
